Mat pilates is a form of the discipline that is performed without need for a reformer. For this reason, mat pilates are often performed in live classes, with an instructor leading the session. A great foundation of muscles are built while training with mat pilates. The benefit of having a live instructor over using pre-recorded video clips is that the training will adapt with you and your skill level. If you want to work on a particular goal, a live instructor will be able to work that into your mat pilates training session.
