It’s amazing the lengths some people will go to, to avoid working out…
While throwing on your bra, girdle may be easier….wouldn’t going to the gym be a little less embarassing?
Have you ever wondered what most Americans are eating when they go out? Places like Olive Garden, The Outback, and PF Changs are all too familiar to us. These places, and others like them, are the typical destination for Americans going out for dinner. In our minds, they are providing convenience, value, and quality; they seem like great options.
When we look a bit further into them, things become a bit more clear. These meals are packed full of sodium, saturated fat, trans fat, sugar, and ultimately, calories. More often than not, the nutrition facts aren’t listed on the menu. However, just a small amount of searching on the internet turns up the nutritional information of all these chains. This is NOT something they expect the average customer to do.
Sometimes we tell ourselves “Okay, it doesn’t matter where I eat. I’m going to eat that salad and stay healthy”. Unfortunately at these major chains, not even the salad is safe. You see, these restaurants are in the business of making money. In the restaurant game, you make money by serving foods that people want to eat more of. For this reason, large amounts of butter, lard, salt, and sugar are used. Sure these things make their foods taste savory, but they come at a heavy cost. Take a look at the following three meals and take a guess at what they could be:
The first is a the Thai Crunch Salad from California Pizza Kitchen. The second is a Turkey Portobello Burger from Ruby Tuesday. The last is grilled barramundi, New Orleans style, from Red Lobster. Think about this for a minute. Salad, turkey burgers, and fish are something we associate with healthy eating right? Restaurants know this, and they use this to their advantage. The salad alone has almost a day’s worth of calories for the average woman, over a day’s worth of fat, and an absurd amount of blood pressure raising sodium. The barramundi at Red Lobster has almost 700 calories and 30 grams of fat. Barramundi bought at the store and grilled the same way at home has 195 calories and 7.5 grams of fat. Red lobster has added 20+ grams of fat and almost 500 calories to this otherwise healthy meal. This probably comes in the form of butter, lard, and/or other artery clogging oils.
What if you were shown a way to cook better tasting and healthier food, at a fraction of the price of these garbage chains. Matt Paley, founder of Share It Fitness has the answer for you. Take a look at the meals below:
You’re already thinking to yourself, “Yeah, these are healthy, but they are probably bird food”. Actually, these are the following meals:
Not so plain and boring, huh? And take a look at the price while you’re at it. For a fourth of the cost you could be eating better and healthier in your very own home. 40 Most Common Restaurant Meals Exposed will bring you a variety of original, homemade recipes just like this. We’re going to give you helpful tips on how to cut calories while maintaining flavor. We’ll show you how and what to buy to maximize your food budget. Our book will show you easy ways to incorporate healthy living and eating into your every day life.
Moms, your family would love it if you could learn to cook like this for them. Guys, you’ll look infinitely more baller if you can stay at home and whip up a Braised Veal Osso Bucco rather than taking your girl out to the lame Cheesecake Factory. This book is a must have; stay tuned in the coming weeks for its revolutionary debut.
With the light airy colors, a well-funded marketing campaign, and healthy spokespersons, many people think vitamin waters are healthy. What could be better than quenching your thirst and getting a healthy dose of vitamins at the same time? Sure, there are some vitamins in these products but are they even necessary? The average American is already getting a surplus of these vitamins without drinking this product. Any added vitamins found in this product are most likely going to end up in the toilet when you urinate. The body simply doesn’t have a need for this excess. Combine that with the multiple lawsuits these companies are facing, and it should at the very least make you skeptical of their claims.
However, the real reason these products are so bad for us is black and white. A simple look at the nutrition label can be a bit startling. One bottle of vitamin water (as pictured above) contains 125 calories and 33 grams of sugar. Let’s think about this for a minute. A can of Coke contains 110 calories and 30 grams of sugar. Would you really be running to slam an icy cold can of Coke when you left the gym? Of course not. So why would you run to replenish yourself with this stuff? Don’t let these “healthy” products trick you. Vitamin water is nothing more than over hyped sugar-water that is making you fat. Stick to good old-fashioned water before, during, and after exercise.
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is one of the most physically and mentally challenging sports there is. On television it may seem like nothing more than a brutal combat sport, but beyond the caged octagon there is a lot more going on which goes unnoticed. Leading up to a competition, there are endless MMA training exercises that a fighter utilizes. They push the boundaries and test the very limits of their mental and physical toughness to see what their body is truly capable of. All things considered, there really is an artistic aspect to exercising when you take into account the time, effort and attention to detail that goes into sculpting the human frame in preparation for competition.
With regards to MMA, if the body is the art form, then the MMA fighter is the artist, and the exercise training routines are the tools. As with most types of art, the artist with the best tools and the most talent will produce the best work. Over time, the fighter with the highest level of motivation and the most challenging, intense, well-rounded workout routine (tools) can develop a greater set of skills, strength and stamina (talent) and ultimately produce the body with the best physical and mental fitness (human art). It is apparent that a majority of MMA fighters possess excellent physical and mental fitness. Therefore, one could arguable say that the MMA Industry is home to some of the best human art forms.
While MMA fighters must possess the motivation and fighting techniques required to take part in competition, the workout routine that they use to get them there is what separates them from the rest. Below is a list of some of the tools that a mixed martial artist utilizes:
MMA workouts can seem complex, difficult, and intense at times, but they are designed to be for a reason. If you can incorporate any aspect of an MMA workout routine into your daily regime, you too could develop the necessary tools and talent to become the next top notch human art form. All you need is the right frame of mind, in some cases the correct MMA equipment, and a strong desire to improve your overall health.

The P90X training system has been getting a lot of coverage lately. While it has been around for some time now, like most fitness trends, it’s popularity surges and falls over a period of time. p90X is geared towards both men and women who want to lose body fat, tone up, and “get ripped”. Each DVD in the system features a series of exercises that must be carried out in order. The goal of the system is to introduce “muscle confusion” to the mix. Most people use the same, or similar workout, for months, or even years on end. Their gains are minimal at best. This in turn causes them to lose motivation and quit; an all too common occurence.
P90X combats this by offering different training routines than most people are used to. The intensity is also higher than most people are used to. For 3-4 months, P90X seems like a great investment. After that however, you face the same problem; performing the same routine over and over again. P90X isn’t the be all end all. Even training with this method will lead to plateaus (making minimal gains). The issue now, however, is you are out $120 dollars and need to now turn somewhere else.
For the same price you can receive, not pre-recorded, but live fitness instruction from a real person on Share It Fitness. You and your very own personal trainer will be working on your issues and goals together. Workouts will vary week to week, which will continually confuse your muscles, keeping your gains and fat loss maximized. Meeting via webcam with your trainer and having the ability to ask questions about an exercise or workout routine during the week are just two things P90X cannot deliver.
P90X makes a solid effort to help people get fit. It achieves its goals on a short-term basis. However, for long-term health and fitness, a finite set of pre-recorded workouts is not going to be the lifestyle changer you need. A change of this magnitude requires a human touch, which Share It Fitness is prepared to offer.
Electrolytes are the “medical” terminology for salts, more specifically, ions. These little electrically charged particles are important because they are what your body cells (muscle, nerve, heart) use to keep constant voltages across their cell membranes and to carry electrical impulses (nerve impulses, muscle contractions) across themselves and to other cells. Your kidneys are responsible for keeping electrolyte balance constant in your blood. For example, when you exercise intensely, you lose electrolytes in your sweat, particularly sodium and potassium. In order to continue to perform at peak performance, many athletes ingest electrolytes in the form of sports drinks, powders, etc. Unfortunately many of these sports drinks are also high in sugar, carbs, and calories.
A new company called Enlyten has made it possible to get your necessary electrolytes without having to down giant bottles of sports drink, dozens of grams of sugar, and hundreds of calories…
Enlyten Electrolyte strips come in a small carrying case, making them possible to take on the go. Running a marathon? Be sure to pack these in your pocket. Good luck lugging around all that sport drink while you are on the go. Being able to provide your body with a constant supply of electrolytes WHILE you are exercising will help you avoid muscle cramps and poor performance. These are a great product and should be an essential item to every athlete, hardcore or casual.
Check out all their great products at Enlyten.com
Just heard about this thing…seems to be a useful product to help people get a better understanding of their own personal fitness. Very reasonably priced too…check it out.
How does the Fitbit Tracker work and what does it track?
The Tracker is also one of the most accurate pedometers. We’ve tuned the accuracy of the Fitbit step counting functionality over hundreds of tests with multiple different body types. For most wearers, the Fitbit should be roughly 95-97% accurate for step counting. We spent a lot of time ensuring that this accuracy is achieved even when you wear the Fitbit loosely in your pocket.
Sleep data from the Tracker correlates very strongly with results from polysomnograms found in sleep labs.
…not quite, but TRX suspension cables are a great way to get your exercise anywhere you are. Designed by a US Navy SEAL to allow the user to get a tough workout anywhere, they weigh in at less than 2 pounds, making them convenient for use on the go. Anywhere there is a place to hook these up, a tree, a pole, a door, etc. is a place to work out. Unlike many of the body weight exercise equipment out there, I can say from first hand experience that TRX cables are no joke. There are literally hundreds of exercises you can perform with TRX cables. Check ShareitFitness.com in May for full TRX exercise routines that you won’t find anywhere else.
